Hello friends!!! Wow, what a week! This poem is coming to you straight from Rotterdam, more specifically from my friend Marina’s computer. Alas, I’m in Europe! It feels surreal. Meeting Kelly IRL has been everything I’ve ever wanted, and more! It’s funny how normal and natural it feels to have travelled 10,112 km to be with her. I can’t believe it’s been a whole week now, and well, I know I was supposed to have a poem response to Kelly’s dinner party piece and the latest HOT PEOPLE ARE IN A SITUATIONSHIP issue today, but I've been busy living. So here is a list of excuses, tick all which apply.
I was supposed to write a poem but
[ ] There were three failures to launch [ ] I had an airport meltdown [ ] My emotional baggage never arrived [ ] The cake tasted like artificial strawberries [ ] I was over stimulated [ ] I can’t help being horny [ ] I’m using familiar pains to avoid new ones [ ] An explanation is not an excuse [ ] We were busy getting to the root of things [ ] My birthday always makes me sad [ ] I think I’ve met my soulmate [ ] I’m on a lesbian coded journey [ ] I’m jet lagged, still [ ] Walls are a disappointment [ ] I was busy sight seeing [ ] We’re here and we’re queer [ ] I’ve been catching up on nostalgia [ ] I had to explain Risographs [ ] There was cheese [ ] Kelly is with me [ ] I think I gave myself shin splinters [ ] There were too many people around [ ] I burned a nail [ ] The coffee got progressively weaker [ ] There was trauma to unpack [ ] The train was on time [ ] I don’t know where to start [ ] I feel undeserving [ ] You blocked me again [ ] Someone brought up Sophie Calle [ ] I miss the womb [ ] I have daddy issues [ ] My tummy hurts [ ] I’m bad with money [ ] I got too stoned [ ] I had to help you strip
That’s all, I’m off to feel the rain on my skin as I make my way to Utrecht with my childhood best friend. No poetry prompt this week. I’m not lazy, I just don’t want to spend any more time typing!
Loooooove this one.
