Van Gogh never had to worry about getting his iPhone 7 stolen while painting en plein air, but I do.👩🎨
would you care if I died? (asking for a friend)
Hello poets, painters, and everyone in between! Saturday we launched our very first editorial issue/zine Hot People Have a Spring Awakening !!!!!! If you haven’t yet, you should go take a look because it’s sprouting with beautiful art and words (there’s even a printable zine you can download!). Inspired by our contributor’s word blossoms and Kelly’s honesty from last week, and also the fact that I’ve been rekindling my painting practice, here is a (hopefully) springy, honest, and painterly poem from me, Larissa Fantini!
Van Gogh never had to worry about getting his iPhone 7 stolen while painting en plein air, but I do.
Titanium white, every pale circle, full moon or condom. Carmine, I spent my twenties loving you and teaching English as a second language. Burnt Sienna, Everywhere I turn, an anthill. Naples yellow, the earrings go, the ears stay. Phtalo blue, dog’s grasp Newton’s laws. Cadmium oxide green, I don’t know greens all that well. Orchid lake, would you care if I died? (asking for a friend). Burnt Umber, There are mushrooms now.
And here is the painted poem
Honestly, I enjoyed that! Did you? Your poetry assignment this week is to assign confessions to colors!
& to keep an eye out on this stack for Kelly’s response and AN EXCITING NEW SQUATTER WHO’S SHOWING UP V SOON!!!!!!
Missed you all terribly, back for good now!
Xoxo,
Larissa
Enjoyed all of this! Thank you for sharing....
Since you asked, yes, I enjoyed that. Immensely.
