Hello, super-graphic-ultra-(post)-modern poets! Last week, Cathelijne de Man presented us with The reality of growing up online. This week we are so excited to announce Raegan Cote’s post-modern mad girl’s love song.
We read this piece and got goose-bumps. NO LIE! The way Raegan crafts a mix of breathless observations with paused references made the PTK mad girls FULLY embody our post-internet disembodiment. This piece BELONGS in our trapper keeper! Ok. No more spoilers! EnJOy (:
post-modern mad girl's love song
after Sylvia Plath
(I think I made me up inside my head) post-workday post-workout post-shower moisturization anti-aging t-swift raging nighttime routine. post girl dinner on snapchat story using the image as a starting point for the number of Babybels actually consumed. strings of celery lose their authenticity as hummus supplies deplete seconds after Love is Blind blasts all memories of global ozone-layer blues. the algorithmic chorus ensues: what I eat in a day #as a fat person what I eat in a day #as an athlete what I eat in a day #realistic tw: theory repels bodies. I thought myself whole until the doctor’s office. everything wrong with me fit on a post-it note. isolate my pussy in blue pen. ask me again about dismemberment. ask me about hot girl walks with hot girl legs & hot girl zits & hot girl gods & hot girl cognitive functions that diffuse in this refined sugar free gluten free egg free dairy free no knead twenty minute one bowl no chill low cal raw holistic futuristic micro-plastic slick dick world. ask me again.
