Poetry Workshop:🌟QUEERING RESOLUTIONS🌟
Hosted by Poetry Trapper Keeper & Unwanted Words at Treehouse NDSM in Amsterdam
Hey, besties! We have another exciting poetry workshop announcement for you. This time, it’s going to be IRL in Amsterdam and hosted with our friends at Unwanted Words!!
💥 About the Workshop💥
Are you tired of making the same resolution every year? Suspicious of the whole “New Year’s Resolution Industrial Complex”?? Not sure what the individualistic process of making resolutions means for the queer community anyway??
Bestie, don’t spiral!! Give us your resolutions, we’ll write them together.
In this poetry workshop, hosted by Unwanted Words and Poetry Trapper Keeper, we’ll focus on making collective resolutions through a guided series of group and individual writing exercises. We will also explore and examine the origins of New Year’s resolutions, why we write them, and who benefits from us (not) keeping them as queer people.
This workshop is for ALL levels - whether you’ve never written a poem before or you’ve taken to the open mic more times than you can count - we hope you join us to turn your soon-to-be-abandoned New Year’s Resolutions into poetry and chase the only new year’s resolution worth fighting for: becoming a hot poet.
P.S. If one of your resolutions is to finally get published, then you’re in luck! All participants will have a chance to be featured in the Poetry Trapper Keeper newsletter! Or maybe get a spot on an Unwanted Words open mic?
✅ When? Sunday, January 28th from 14.30 - 17.00
✅ Where? Treehouse NDSM in Amsterdam (T.T. Neveritaweg 55-57, 1033 WB Amsterdam)
✅ How Much? FREE (+ donations welcome!)
💥About the Hosts💥
💖💚 Poetry Trapper Keeper is an online poetry magazine for hot people (if you’re here, you already qualify - so congrats!). Run by Kelly Mullins and Larissa Fantini, it’s a space that celebrates our tween selves, the color pink, and un-precious poetry.
🎤⭐ Unwanted Words is the first platform for up & coming LGBTQ+ poets and Spoken Word artists in Rotterdam & around.
💥More Workshop Info💥
Language: The workshop will take place in English (with Dutch-speaking facilitators present). You are welcome to write your poetry in the language you are most comfortable with.
Sign Up: We have spots available for 23 people, so sign up will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. A waitlist will open after that.
Accessibility: During the workshop, you’ll be asked to write on paper for the collaborative exercises, but you can also bring the writing tool of your choice if needed (journal, laptop, notes app on phone, etc.). We’ll feature visual material which will be briefly described as we come across it. And you’ll have the chance to adjust each exercise to your needs.
Please reach out to Poetry Trapper Keeper or Unwanted Words if you have any other accessibility-related hopes or needs and we will do our best to make the accommodations necessary!
🌟 Can’t wait to see you there!! 🌟
Great idea. If I would have been in NL at that time, I might have dropped by. Have fun.
