Never gonna give u up for lent

Hello devoted followers!!! It’s Ash Wednesday I’m pretty sure(??) though I am not Catholic (Kelly’s poem from last week seemed to be!). All I know is that Carnaval is over, and thus according to Brazilians the year has finally started. Despite the season, this past week has been more banal than bacchanal, and I have been feeling the weight of wasting precious time. Behind the scenes Kelly has been helping me SO much with some non-poetry related endeavors, and we have both been working on some new and exciting poetry related ones! All this has made me think how I have always written responses TO Kelly but never FOR Kelly. So, in honor of Kelly, the most patient of friends, most delusional of associates, and best poetry pen pal I could have ever wished for, here’s a response to her poem, FOR her.

fire up the folie à deux delusion is in confession is in prayer is in sacrifice is out calling in sick in scheming in scamming in cashing out eating out burning out with swapping out fried synapses igniting each other blessing algorithms should just be hot poets instead never gonna give u up for lent.

Made this little illustration of Kelly and I in June when I was trying to teach myself to use Procreate; We have never met IRL (and neither one of us know how to drive), but what a ride this has been!!!
